Sell prints from a shoot

A store turns a shoot into a gallery your client can buy from: prints, canvas and framed pieces, at your prices, made and delivered for you. This is the shortest path from an empty Stores tab to a client browsing. If your client still needs to choose their photos first, start with a proofing gallery instead — it can open print sales on the same link later.

What a store is

One store is one shoot for one client. You upload the photographs, decide which are for sale and in what sizes, and send a link. Your client browses on their phone or computer, hearts favourites, and orders. You never handle the printing, the payment or the delivery — you set the price and keep the difference.

Early Beta. Stores are ready for testing but please contact Brilliant Prints for help setting up before you use with a real client.

Set your prices first

Do this once, before your first store, under Prices on the Stores tab. On the left is what Brilliant Prints charges you; on the right is what your client pays.

  1. Pick a default markup
Default markup covers the whole catalogue in one go — 100% doubles the cost. Prices it works out round up to the nearest $5.
  2. Adjust anything by hand
Type a price into any row to override the markup. The Margin column shows what you keep. A price below cost is marked “not for sale”.
  3. Save prices
Your cost is never shown to a client.

Your margin is what you earn on a sale. How it becomes a payout, and where GST fits, is in the earnings guide.

Create a store

On the Stores tab, press New store. Give it a Store name — your client sees it at the top — and, if you like, a Client reference that only you see.

Already designed an album or frame from this shoot? Pick it under Start from and its photographs come across, so there is nothing to upload again.

Press Create store and the setup opens on its own.

Set it up, step by step

The setup asks one question per screen. Every screen has Skip for now, and you can come back with Set up step by step… at the top of the store. The answers that matter on day one:

  1. Photos
Sell all of them, or I'll choose myself. Upload full-resolution files — your client only ever sees screen-size versions.
  2. Cover
The photograph the store opens on. Use the first one, or pick your favourite.
  3. What you sell, how big, how many sizes
Three short questions — prints, wall pieces or framed; small, room or statement; then how many sizes. Start with 3 sizes — recommended: a client offered every size on every photograph tends to buy nothing.
  4. Recommended
A short list of pieces to lead with. Start with these takes the suggestion; everything else stays behind “see all options”.
  5. Who can open it
A passcode, or the link alone; and the date it closes.

You can skip the rest — the showcase, the slideshow and music — and come back to them later.

Open & share

A new store is a Draft: nobody can see it. The Ready to open? card checks the two things it needs — at least one photograph for sale, and size rules that leave something to sell — then Open store makes the link work.

  1. Preview it first
Preview on the Client link card shows the store as your client will see it — buying is switched off in your preview.
  2. Send the gallery
Fill in your client's email and press Send the gallery. It goes out under your studio name, and their first visit opens with a full-screen slideshow. Or Copy link to send it yourself.
  3. Consider a passcode
Without one, anyone the link is forwarded to can see the photographs. With one, your client types it once per device.

You can keep curating while the store is open, and close it any time under Settings.

On your own website

The store can live inside your own site instead of on our link. Under Embed on the Stores tab you'll find one line to paste:

  1. One page for every client
Shows a “find your gallery” box. Each client types the gallery code from their store and lands in it. Paste it once and never touch your site again.
  2. One shoot on one page
Puts a single store on a single page. It puts that store's link in your page's source, so use a passcode.

The page also explains where to paste it in the common website builders. This step is optional — the link works without it.

What your client does

What your client seesYour cover, then the photographs in the order you set. They heart favourites, open a photograph to see the sizes you chose (with “Try it on your wall”), add to cart and pay by card or wallet. Delivery is free in Australia. Your studio's name is on the store and every email.

Hearts aren't wasted: when a client is choosing, or sends you their list, you get an email — a ready-made reason to follow up.

If card payments aren't switched on for your store yet, your client sees no cart — just favourites, with a note that ordering opens shortly and their list goes straight to you.

After an order

The moment they pay you get an email — “Your client just bought” — and so do they. The order is made and shipped for you; when it ships, your client hears about it and you get a copy of every message they get, so you're never surprised.

Orders lists everything sold. Earnings shows what each sale earned you and what you're owed.

Switches you can leave alone

You may notice more in a store's settings — client photo uploads, free downloads of your originals, timed discounts and reminder emails. Some only appear once the studio turns them on for your account. None is needed for a first sale; leave them off until your first store has sold.
